Our 4-day Zion and Bryce Inn-based Tour is an opportunity to explore the highlights of Utah's two most famous national parks over what amounts to a long weekend. We pack in the hiking so you can make the most of your vacation, visiting landmark Canyon Country features by day and enjoying cozy lodging and wonderful meals in the evenings. Our hikes take us to stunning views of ancient canyons, polished narrows sculpted by water and ice over millions of years, soaring sandstone towers, eight fascinating geologic layers, spring-fed creeks, a maze of "Hoo Doo" masterpieces in Bryce, and more! We begin this tour in St. George, Utah and head directly to Zion National Park for two days of spectacular hiking and sight-seeing. Our accommodations are cozy cabins on a bison ranch just outside the Park. After Zion we move on to Bryce for the second half of the tour, and explore its labyrinths of other-worldly rock formations. Enjoy your night in Bryce in a historic lodge at the top of the Colorado Plateau. Conclude your trip with a visit to Zion’s majestic and seldom-seen Kolob Canyon. *This trip has an orientation the night before and times will be provided to you by Wildland Trekking at time of booking and in trip notes. At 07:45 AM, your Euro Khmer guide will pick you up from your Phnom Penh hotel or guesthouse and drive you to Udong – home to various temples and three large stupas (places of prayer) The city, now a UNESO World Heritage Site, was home to a succession of kings – you can view the phials at the three stupas. The city’s most impressive structure is the Vihara of the 18-Cubut Buddha. 30 meter high, it is just about survived first the American bombings and the brutal regime of the Khmer Rogue. On the way back to city center, you will have a lunch at the local restaurant(your own expense). Heading back to Phnom Penh, stop at the silver smith village of Kompong Luong. After Lunch your guide and driver will drive you to the killing fields of Choeung Ek – 15 km south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rogue, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into what became known as the killing fields. Over four years they massacred and buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Prison. Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned there, many of whom were tortured for information.
