Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & First Impressions

I landed in Brussels in the early afternoon and made my way to the city center where I checked into a charming boutique hotel near the Grand Place. After dropping off my bags, I headed out to explore the area. As soon as I stepped into the Grand Place, I was in awe—the ornate buildings, the golden façades, and the atmosphere were incredible. I grabbed a quick Belgian waffle topped with strawberries and cream, then spent some time people-watching. Later in the evening, I had my first proper Belgian dinner—moules-frites (mussels and fries) with a local beer—at a traditional brasserie nearby. Exhausted but excited, I turned in early to rest up for a full week ahead.

Day 2: Exploring Historic Brussels

I started my day with a warm croissant and coffee from a nearby café before heading to the Royal Palace of Brussels. Though it's only open in the summer, I admired the architecture from the outside and strolled through the nearby Parc de Bruxelles. Then I visited the Magritte Museum, where I immersed myself in the surreal world of Belgium’s most famous artist. After lunch at a cozy spot in the Sablon neighborhood, I stopped by Notre-Dame du Sablon, a beautiful Gothic church. In the evening, I returned to the Grand Place to see it illuminated—just magical. I found a small pub and tried a couple more Belgian beers before calling it a night.

Day 3: Day Trip to Ghent

I took a short train ride to Ghent in the morning—a decision I’ll never regret. Ghent’s medieval charm completely won me over. I explored Gravensteen Castle, walked along the picturesque Graslei and Korenlei, and marveled at the intricate altarpiece in St. Bavo’s Cathedral. For lunch, I tried a local specialty, waterzooi, a creamy stew that was comforting and delicious. I made it back to Brussels by evening and ended the day with some artisan chocolate from Pierre Marcolini. It was the perfect sweet ending to a rich, culture-filled day.

Day 4: Art, Comics & Quirkiness

I dedicated this day to exploring Brussels’ more creative and quirky side. I visited the Belgian Comic Strip Center, where I got a crash course in the country's comic culture (yes, including Tintin!). From there, I followed the Comic Book Route, spotting colorful murals around the city. I also passed by the famous Manneken Pis—smaller than I expected, but amusing nonetheless. In the afternoon, I visited the BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts, then relaxed in Mont des Arts with a panoramic view of the city. Dinner was at a modern Belgian bistro where I sampled rabbit in cherry beer sauce—unexpectedly delicious.

Day 5: Atomium & Mini-Europe

Today, I ventured a bit outside the city center to visit the Atomium, an iconic Brussels landmark. I took the elevator to the top and enjoyed panoramic views of the city and beyond. Just next door, I explored Mini-Europe, which was more fun than I expected—tiny replicas of European landmarks made for a quirky afternoon. After returning to the center, I wandered through the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, an elegant shopping arcade filled with chocolatiers, bookshops, and cafés. I treated myself to some pralines and a cappuccino before heading back to my hotel to rest.

Day 6: Markets, Local Life & Delirium

I started the day with a visit to the Marolles Flea Market at Place du Jeu de Balle, rummaging through antiques and quirky trinkets. Then I explored the neighborhood, full of vintage shops, murals, and local charm. I grabbed lunch at a family-run café and spent the afternoon in Ixelles, where I visited Flagey Square and the beautiful Étangs d'Ixelles ponds. For my last big night out, I headed to Delirium Café, known for its massive beer selection. The atmosphere was lively and the beer list overwhelming—in a good way. I made a few new friends and had a blast trying different brews from around the world.

Day 7: A Relaxed Farewell

On my last morning, I packed up and went for a peaceful walk through the Botanical Garden of Brussels, reflecting on the week. I stopped at a café for one last waffle and coffee, then strolled through the European Quarter, passing by the EU Parliament and the Parc Leopold. I felt like I’d experienced so many sides of Brussels—historic, modern, quirky, artistic. Before heading to the airport, I picked up some chocolates and lace as souvenirs. Saying goodbye was bittersweet, but I left feeling enriched, inspired, and already dreaming of my next Belgian adventure.
